About This Video
Welcome to the Super Sweaty Speed Barre at Broche Ballet, a 36-minute intensive designed for the dancer who wants to skip the lengthy explanations and get straight into the movement. This session is built on the philosophy of 'less instruction, more dancing,' making it the perfect choice for those who have mastered foundational patterns and are ready to push their cardiovascular endurance alongside their technical precision. The class begins with a focused warm-up at the barre, incorporating deep plié and grand plié sequences to find your center and ground your weight.
As the tempo picks up, we transition through rapid tendu and dégagé exercises designed to fire up the feet and sharpen your alignment. At Broche Ballet, we believe that speed should never come at the cost of form; even in a fast-paced environment, maintaining proper posture and core engagement is paramount for stability and control. This class challenges you to keep your heels forward and your turnout active even as the music accelerates.
A significant portion of this workout focuses on the sharp, percussive energy of the frappe. You will learn how to use your toes to generate power and precision, ensuring that every strike is clean and rhythmic. This is followed by the expansive power of the grand battement.
Here, the challenge lies in maintaining a stable torso while executing high kicks with correct footwork and arm placement. By keeping a consistent tempo and rhythm, you will build the muscle memory required for more advanced center work and allegro sequences. Throughout the class, we incorporate complex movements such as rond de jambe and various relevé and passé combinations to challenge your coordination and balance.
This Speed Barre is more than just a workout; it is a way to refine your rail and base work on the feet, ensuring your foundation is rock solid. Prepare to leave the barre feeling stronger, faster, and more aligned.
