About This Video
Elevate your technique with this focused 15-minute "Fabulous 15" ballet class designed specifically for dancers looking to enhance their foot articulation and arch shaping. In this follow-along session from Broche Ballet, we dive deep into the mechanics of pointework, ensuring that every movement contributes to a stronger, more aesthetic line. Whether you are at home or in the studio, this workout provides the intensity needed to refine your pointe shoe technique through consistent, nonstop movement.
The class begins at the barre, focusing on the essential transition through demi-pointe. By emphasizing the movement from a flat foot to a high demi-pointe before reaching full pointe, you build the necessary strength in the intrinsic muscles of the foot. We pay close attention to turnout and ankle placement, ensuring your weight is centered over the toes to avoid sickling and maintain a safe, professional alignment.
" This involves pushing the toes firmly into the box while lifting the arch toward the shank to create that coveted balletic curve. You will practice plié and relevé combinations in both first and fifth positions, focusing on maintaining control and balance. We also incorporate more complex movements, such as échappé and sous-sus, which challenge your stability and footwork speed.
The latter half of the class introduces fondu and battu sequences. These exercises are crucial for developing the strength required for single-leg work en pointe. You will learn to maintain a fully stretched knee while navigating transitions, ensuring that your foot remains pointed even within the shoe.
By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of how to use your pointe shoes as a tool for technical precision. Join Broche Ballet for this high-energy routine and transform your pointework from the ground up.
