About This Video
Welcome to a specialized 30-minute pointe barre session with Broche Ballet, designed specifically to help dancers find their center and achieve exquisite balance. In this class, we dive deep into the mechanics of pointe work, moving beyond simple steps to focus on the artistry of stillness and the control of the upper body. The session begins with fundamental exercises at the barre, including pliés and tendus en pointe, where we emphasize the alignment of the core, ribs, and hips.
One of the primary goals of this practice is to create a quiet upper body. By keeping the upper back firm yet responsive, you allow your feet and ankles to remain flexible and soft, which is the secret to maintaining stability while en pointe. A significant portion of the class is dedicated to bourrées.
You will learn how to lift up and out of the hips, pulling the upper back away from the pelvis to create the necessary space for rapid, fluid footwork. We also explore port de bras and allongé positions, ensuring that every arm movement is big and beautiful, adding a layer of presentation to your technical foundation. Throughout the practice, we transition between using the barre for support and testing our balance in the center.
We will incorporate movements like chassé and pas de bourrée, focusing on the transition of weight and the floating quality of the feet. This class is not just about strength; it is about the poise and presentation that define an elegant performance. Whether you are working on your épaulement or the precision of your pointes, this lesson provides the tools to refine your technique and build the confidence needed for center work.
Join us at Broche Ballet as we cultivate the strength to be still and the grace to move with effortless control.
