About This Video
Jump into the world of allegro with our dedicated Beginner Ballet Jumps class at Broche Ballet. This session is specifically designed to bridge the gap between basic floor-based movements and the dynamic energy of jumping, focusing on building the essential strength, stamina, and coordination needed for elevation. We begin with a thorough warm-up to prepare the joints, emphasizing the importance of the plié as both the motor and the shock absorber for every jump. You will learn that the secret to a powerful sauté or glissade lies in the timing of the push-off and the fluidity of the landing.
Our instructor guides you through first and second position jumps, highlighting the alignment of the knees over the toes and the engagement of the upper body—specifically the triceps and back—to maintain stability in the air. The class dives deep into the mechanics of the glissade and assemblé. You will practice the coordination of sliding one foot out and bringing the legs together in the air, ensuring a crisp and clean finish. We emphasize leg strength through targeted repetition, helping you build the muscle memory required for more advanced allegro combinations.
Safety is paramount when practicing at home. Please ensure you are practicing on a suitable surface; jumping on ceramic tile or concrete is not recommended due to the high impact. If you are on wood floors, consider wearing jazz sneakers for extra cushioning. To wrap up the session, we include a 90-second conditioning finisher designed to push your cardiovascular endurance and leave you feeling accomplished. Whether you are just starting your ballet journey or looking to refine your jumping form, this class provides the technical foundation you need to feel light and powerful on your feet.
