About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive and challenging session at the barre designed for dancers of all levels. At Broche Ballet, we believe that the foundation of great dancing is built through intentional, technical practice. This 45-minute class is no exception, offering a deep dive into the mechanics of movement while maintaining a high-energy, supportive atmosphere.
Throughout this practice, you will be guided through a complete sequence of exercises, from initial warm-ups to more complex combinations involving tendu, développé, and grand battement. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to mastering the grand battement. You will learn the importance of keeping the hip "in" to allow for a proper hinge within the hip socket, ensuring height doesn't come at the cost of alignment.
We also focus on the concept of driving the heel into the floor during these movements to find your center and maintain rock-solid balance. Core engagement is a recurring theme. The instructor emphasizes how a neutral spine is achieved not just through stiffness, but through a dynamic relationship between rounding the upper back and extending the lower back.
This helps neutralize the torso, allowing the legs to move freely and powerfully. You will also work through en croix patterns, ensuring both sides of the body receive equal attention and technical refinement. In addition to the physical workout, this class highlights the artistry of ballet.
You will explore cambré and demi-pointe work, focusing on the grace of the upper body and the strength of the feet. Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the "why" behind the movements or an advanced student looking to polish your technique, this session provides the corrections and adjustments needed to reach your next level. Join us for this fun, energetic class and discover how proper alignment and a strong core can transform your dance practice.
