About This Video
Welcome to Class 6 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe Summer Cohort. This session is specifically designed to take your pointe work to the next level by focusing on one of the most challenging aspects of classical dance: building stamina and strength while balancing on a single leg. Whether you are a beginner just starting your journey en pointe or a more experienced dancer looking to refine your stability, this class provides the technical foundation you need to succeed.
We begin at the barre with a thorough review of proper foot placement and alignment. Understanding how your weight is distributed through your pointe shoes is crucial for safety and efficiency. The instructor guides you through a series of plié and relevé exercises, emphasizing the importance of keeping the legs straight and strong as you rise.
By maintaining a locked-in heel and fully pointed toes, you create the solid base necessary for more advanced movements. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to the coup-de-pied. You will learn the precise technique for executing this action, focusing on the neck of the foot and ensuring your core remains engaged to support your balance.
The lesson transitions between slow, controlled movements and faster, more rhythmic combinations. This variation in tempo is vital for developing functional stamina; it teaches your muscles to respond quickly while maintaining the endurance needed for longer sequences. Throughout the class, we emphasize sous-sous transitions and repetitive movements that target the smaller stabilizing muscles of the ankle and calf.
By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of how to maintain a strong core and transition between movements with proper timing and rhythm. Join the Broche Ballet community today and transform your pointe technique through disciplined, professional instruction.
