About This Video
Welcome to the "Fabulous 15," a specialized Broche Ballet practice session designed for dancers who want to maximize their time en pointe. This 15-minute, nonstop follow-along class is structured to build the essential strength, stability, and articulation required for beautiful and safe pointework. Whether you are looking for a quick daily maintenance routine or a challenging addition to your full class, this session focuses on the fundamentals of footwork and alignment.
The practice begins with a thorough warm-up in parallel, focusing on articulating the foot through demi-pointe to full pointe. You will work on framing your shoes and ensuring a neutral alignment of the ankles. As the tempo picks up, we transition into more demanding movements, including plié relevés and tendus.
These exercises are vital for developing the push required to rise effortlessly onto the platform of the shoe. Throughout the session, you will engage in various barre exercises that challenge your balance and coordination. We practice pas de bourrée with flexed feet to increase ankle mobility, alongside piqué and sous-sus combinations.
These sequences are designed to help you find your center and improve your weight transfer while en pointe. We also incorporate petit battements to enhance foot speed and precision. To conclude the Fabulous 15, we move into a series of stretches and recovery movements.
You will perform first-position stretches to loosen the ankles and small knee circles in parallel to engage all sides of the joint. Shaking out the feet at the end ensures that you leave the barre feeling strong and refreshed. This high-energy practice is an excellent way for dedicated dancers to refine their technique and build the stamina needed for longer variations and center work.
