About This Video
Elevate your training with our "Fabulous 15," a high-energy, 15-minute nonstop ballet pointe class designed for dancers who want to maximize their practice time. This follow-along session at Broche Ballet focuses on building the essential strength and stamina needed for fluid en pointe work. Throughout the lesson, we dive deep into a series of continuous exercises that challenge both your physical endurance and your mental focus.
The class begins with a series of pas de bourrée movements, emphasizing a sharp, clean strike off the floor. We place a heavy emphasis on tempo—keeping the rhythm "up, up, down"—to ensure your transitions are crisp and professional. As you progress through the combinations, you will work on passé and coupé positions, focusing on keeping the foot low and precise.
We also explore sous-sous transitions and the subtle art of the enveloppé. One of the core focuses of this session is foot articulation. You will practice rolling down through a single leg from a relevé, learning to control the descent and ensuring both feet arrive at the floor simultaneously during sous-sous sequences.
We also integrate piqué movements and tombé bourrée patterns to help you find your center and maintain grace under pressure. Refining your alignment is key to safety en pointe. We focus on the placement of the working foot in passé, ensuring it doesn't climb too high but stays connected and engaged.
The instructor encourages dancers to test their stability by letting go of the barre periodically. By finding your own balance during relevé and dégagé sequences, you build the core strength necessary for center work. This class isn't just about the steps; it's about the "moment in time" when your pointe shoe touches the floor for just a moment as you leave fifth position.
