About This Video
Welcome to the Fabulous 15 session at Broche Ballet, a high-intensity 15-minute pointe strength class designed to maximize your time at the barre. This workout is specifically crafted for dancers who want to pack a punch into their daily training, focusing on the essential movements that build reliable stability and fluid movement while en pointe. Even with a short duration, this class targets the specific muscle groups required for advanced footwork and balance.
During this focused session, we dive straight into the foundations with sous-sus and cambré exercises. By incorporating stretches forward, backward, and side-to-side while sustained in a sous-sus position, you will challenge your core stability and find your center of gravity more effectively. These micro-adjustments are crucial for developing the confidence needed for center work. We also incorporate the soutenu to refine your transitions and turn preparation.
The core of the class focuses on the gumption and speed required for the pas de bourrée. We practice the pas de bourrée back, side, and front to ensure your weight transitions are clean and your footwork is articulate. Speed is a key element here; by practicing these sequences with momentum, you prepare your muscles for the quick changes often found in classical variations and allegro work. Mastering the roll-up through the box of the shoe is essential for these quick shifts in weight.
No pointe workout is complete without mastering bourrée steps. We guide you through specific sequences—counting one, two, three, four—to help you find the necessary momentum to glide across the floor. You will learn how to roll up through the shoe correctly to initiate these movements, ensuring you are using the floor to your advantage. Whether you are squeezing in a practice session before work or looking for a targeted warm-up, this 15-minute barre workout provides the technical rigor required to elevate your dancing. At Broche Ballet, we believe that consistent, short bursts of focused practice are the key to long-term progress.
