About This Video
Welcome to this 15-minute intermediate ballet pointe class at Broche Ballet, specifically designed to help you transition your skills from the barre to the center. This session focuses on the intricate mechanics of center work, emphasizing the precision required for piqué movements and the stability needed for a clean passé. Our instructor guides you through a comprehensive series of exercises, ranging from controlled adagio to more dynamic allegro steps.
A primary focus of this lesson is the connection between the feet. You will learn why it is vital to connect the working foot to the supporting leg as quickly as possible during a passé. This prompt connection is the secret to finding your balance and preparing for turns.
Speaking of turns, we delve into the importance of keeping the feet very tight and the core engaged to ensure stability while rotating en pointe. The class covers a variety of essential ballet terms and movements, including plié, relevé, and sous-sus. We also practice rond de jambe and dégagé to build the necessary strength and articulation in the feet.
Beyond just the footwork, we place a heavy emphasis on port de bras. Coordination is key in ballet; you will practice how to synchronize your arm movements with your leg work, particularly during the transition into a curtsy or révérence. Throughout the practice, you will receive cues on proper alignment and muscle engagement.
Maintaining a strong, upright posture is essential when dancing en pointe, especially when you no longer have the barre for support. We also include sections dedicated to stretching and flexibility to ensure your muscles remain long and lean. Whether you are working on your petit allegro or trying to find more grace in your grand allegro, this class provides the technical corrections needed to level up your dancing.
Finish the session with a beautiful final curtsy, feeling stronger and more confident in your center work. Join the Broche Ballet community and elevate your pointe practice from the comfort of your home.
