About This Video
Step up to the barre with Broche Ballet for a comprehensive 24-minute session designed to strengthen your technical foundation. This class focuses on the essential building blocks of ballet: the plié, tendu, and dégagé. By revisiting these core movements with intentionality, you can significantly improve your overall alignment and performance quality.
We begin with a focus on hip mobility and active turnout. You will be guided through demi and grand plié sequences where the primary goal is maintaining external rotation—keeping the knees back and the heels forward. This focus ensures that your turnout is functional and supported by the glutes rather than forced from the ankles.
As we transition into tendus and dégagés, we emphasize the importance of foot articulation. You will practice moving through the demi-pointe and stretching through the big toe to create a long, elegant line. The class also incorporates ronds de jambe and enveloppé movements to challenge your range of motion while maintaining a square pelvis.
' This portion of the class integrates ballonnée and sous-sus to build lower body strength and refined balance. You will learn to navigate weight transitions at the barre with grace and stability, ensuring your center of gravity remains lifted. Throughout the practice, fluid port de bras and expressive cambré movements are integrated to help you find coordination between your upper and lower body.
This session also touches upon the mechanics of the fondu to ensure a soft, controlled landing in every transition. Whether you are looking to fix technical habits or simply want a focused workout, this class provides the cues needed to dance with more precision and strength. Join us at Broche Ballet as we refine the basics and push your stability to the next level.
