About This Video
Master the art of dancing en pointe with this focused 30-minute practice session from Broche Ballet. Led by instructor Julie, this class is specifically designed to bridge the gap between foundational foot strength and the dynamic speed required for advanced combinations. The lesson is divided into two intentional segments: 10 minutes dedicated to deep foot articulation and 20 minutes focusing on building the confidence and power needed for faster movements.
We begin with the essentials, using plié, relevé, and tendu to wake up the muscles of the feet. This initial articulation work is crucial for ensuring that every dégagé and single-leg relevé is performed with maximum control and proper alignment. By focusing on the 'middle ground' between speed and control, you will learn how to influence your momentum through the quickness of your footwork.
In the second half of the class, the tempo increases. Julie guides you through combinations involving piqué turns, chassé, glissade, and pas de bourrée. You will explore how to generate power by bringing the second foot up quickly during a piqué and how to use your arms in first position to maintain balance and timing.
Whether you are perfecting your sous-sus, working on a steady arabesque, or practicing fluid bourrée sequences, this class emphasizes finding your own internal power. By the end of the session, you will have the tools to transition between movements with greater precision and confidence. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and bring more spirit and speed to your pointe work.
