About This Video
Elevate your ballet technique with this focused "Fabulous 15" pointework session at Broche Ballet. This class is specifically designed to bridge the gap between basic foot strength and the advanced stability required for fluid center work. Over fifteen minutes of non-stop, slow-paced exercises, you will deconstruct the essential movements that make for beautiful and secure dancing en pointe.
We begin at the barre in first position, focusing on the articulation from the floor through demi-pointe to full pointe. By holding these positions, you build the intrinsic muscle strength necessary for sustained balance. A unique aspect of this class involves transitioning between parallel and turnout while on the foot, which challenges your proprioception and forces a deeper engagement of the rotators.
This "slow" approach allows you to feel exactly where your weight is distributed, ensuring you are not gripping the barre for support. As we progress, we move into fifth position to practice Su Su and piqué movements. You will learn to focus on the power of the plié and the sharpness of the relevé, ensuring you are pushing from under the hips rather than just pulling up with the ankles.
The session also covers the transition into tendu fondu and arabesque, teaching you how to maintain a strong supporting leg while finding your center of gravity on a single foot. Whether you are looking to improve your foot articulation or find more stability during your variations, these exercises provide the challenge needed to see real results. By focusing on the mechanics of the foot and the alignment of the hips, you will gain the confidence to let go of the barre and trust your technique.
