About This Video
Maintaining strong, supple feet is essential for any dancer, especially when working toward or refining your pointe technique. This Broche Ballet Fabulous 15 session is designed to help you achieve a deeper arch stretch and improved ankle conditioning in a quick, effective format. Whether you are currently dancing en pointe or are a pre-pointe student looking to build the necessary foundation, these exercises focus on the intricate mechanics of the foot and ankle.
The class begins by finding a solid demi-pointe. We emphasize pushing the arch away while keeping the heel high, ensuring that your weight is distributed correctly through the metatarsals. We then move into a series of tendu and plié combinations designed to warm up the intrinsic muscles of the feet. Proper alignment is key; you will learn how to keep the pinky toe engaged to prevent sickling and ensure a clean line from the ankle through the tips of your toes. This helps in building the necessary strength to support the shank of the shoe.
Balance and stability are major components of this conditioning routine. You will be challenged to find your center while standing in demi-plié, forcing your ankles, calves, and knees to stabilize. We also practice high relevé holds, which are crucial for engaging the core and legs simultaneously. By pressing over the shoes and practicing controlled lowering, you build the eccentric strength required for graceful transitions and secure landings. This follow-along class is perfect for a quick warm-up before a full ballet class or as a standalone daily conditioning routine to enhance your stability and flexibility en pointe.
