About This Video
Kick off your spooky season with this high-energy Super Sweaty Speed Barre session from Broche Ballet. This class is uniquely designed for dancers who want to skip lengthy technical breakdowns and dive straight into the flow of movement. With a festive Halloween playlist setting the mood, you will work through a comprehensive barre routine that emphasizes stamina, precision, and musicality.
The core philosophy of our Speed Barre series is less instruction, more dancing. This allows intermediate and advanced students to focus on their internal sensations and muscle memory. Throughout this 36-minute session, we explore essential movements including plié, tendu, dégagé, and fondu.
A major focus of this specific lesson is the precision required for relevé. When the tempo increases, it is easy for alignment to slip; we emphasize maintaining a strong, lifted arch and a solid demi-pointe to ensure stability. Turnout remains a primary focus, especially during the challenging fondu sequences.
You will learn how to freeze the working leg while pushing through the floor, ensuring that your alignment does not collapse into parallel as you fatigue. We also tackle weight-shifting transitions through the inside leg retiré, a vital skill for center work and turns. By practicing these shifts at speed, you build the reflexive strength necessary for advanced combinations.
Beyond the legs, this class addresses upper-body carriage. Proper posture is maintained by engaging the core and subtly arching the upper spine, preventing the slumping that often occurs during intense workouts. Whether you are working on your tombé pas de bourrée or holding a steady arabesque, these postural cues will help you maintain an elegant line even when the heart rate is high.
Join us at Broche Ballet for this festive and challenging workout. It is the perfect way to sharpen your technique while enjoying a sweaty and rhythmic practice.
