About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive all-level ballet barre class designed to strengthen your foundation and refine your technique. Led by Julie at Broche Ballet, this session focuses on the essential movements that build a dancer’s strength and grace. Whether you are returning to the studio or looking to polish your daily practice, this class provides the detailed instructions and corrections needed to excel.
We begin with a thorough warm-up, moving through a series of grand pliés that emphasize proper alignment and hip opening. Throughout the class, we prioritize the "lift" in the spine, ensuring your tailbone remains down while your core stays engaged. You will work through detailed tendu and rond de jambe sequences, focusing on developing precise front, back, and side positions.
A key technical focus in this session is maintaining control over the standing hip, preventing it from pulling off the leg during extensions. One of the highlights of this practice is the inclusion of the balançoire movement. You will learn how to achieve a fluid release at the top of the movement while keeping the control deep inside the hip socket.
We also dive into adagio work, where slow, controlled movements like arabesque and passé help build the muscular endurance required for center work. By pressing the hips back and maintaining a tall posture, you will prepare your body for the power of grand battement. Throughout the exercises, Julie provides cues on elevating the toe during pliés to maintain proper alignment and using attitude movements to explore various spatial planes.
By the end of this hour-long barre, you will feel more centered, balanced, and technically grounded. Join our Broche Ballet community and elevate your dancing from the comfort of your home.
