About This Video
Welcome to the sixth installment of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe 16-week program. At this stage in your journey, you have begun to find your balance over the box, and it is now time to introduce more complex coordination. In this class, we focus extensively on the pas de bourrée, a fundamental step that requires intricate footwork and precise weight distribution while en pointe.
You will learn the mechanics of rolling down through the shoe and pushing back up to the platform with strength and control. ' It is a common mistake for beginners to ball up their toes inside the pointe shoes; instead, we work on keeping the toes long to utilize the shoe's hard arch effectively. We also incorporate exercises like pas de cheval and coupé to improve articulation and speed of the feet.
These movements are essential for developing the dexterity required for advanced ballet repertoire. Safety and longevity are core pillars of the Broche Ballet philosophy. In addition to technical execution, we cover essential tendon health, specifically how to care for your Achilles after a demanding series of relevé exercises.
You will learn why keeping the knees open when coming out of the box and keeping the heels closed behind the legs is vital for maintaining turnout and preventing strain. The class concludes with a challenging balance sequence, requiring 12 relevés in first position on a single leg before a controlled descent. This builds the foundational strength needed for the center work that lies ahead in the latter half of the cohort.
Whether you are practicing at your home barre or in a studio, this session provides the feedback and adjustments necessary to execute these steps with precision and grace. Perfect your technique and gain the confidence to move fluidly en pointe.
