About This Video
Welcome to Week 6 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe Cohort. This session marks a pivotal point in your 16-week journey as we introduce the pas de bourrée. This foundational step is essential for fluid movement across the floor and serves as a vital bridge between more complex ballet sequences.
We begin our 30-minute practice at the barre with a comprehensive review of previous material. It is vital to consistently revisit the basics of plié and relevé to ensure your muscles are properly warmed up and your alignment is precise before progressing. Throughout this class, we focus heavily on foot shape and the transition through demi-pointe. Learning to roll through the foot rather than 'popping' directly onto your toes is key to developing the necessary strength and preventing injury.
The core of today's lesson is the pas de bourrée. We break down this three-step movement into manageable parts, emphasizing the importance of the plié to initiate the step and the relevé to achieve height and stability. You will learn to maintain a tight susu position and execute the movement with grace and control. We also explore the coordination required for both en dehors and en dedans movements.
Beyond new footwork, we continue to reinforce the importance of core stability and upper body alignment. Good posture is just as critical as ankle strength when dancing en pointe. To wrap up the session, we combine these elements into a fun final sequence that challenges your coordination and musicality. We conclude with a dedicated foot stretch to aid recovery and maintain flexibility. Whether you are following our structured program or revisiting this class to sharpen your technique, consistency is the key to mastering pointe. Remember to listen to your body and prioritize proper form over speed as you progress through these foundational weeks.
