About This Video
Welcome to Class 9 of the Broche Ballet 16-week Beginner Pointe Program. At this pivotal stage in your training, we transition from foundational holds to increasing the agility and speed of your footwork. This session is specifically designed to build "fast ankles and toes," providing the necessary strength and dexterity for complex combinations. We begin at the barre with essential warm-ups, focusing on pas de cheval and tombé sequences to improve weight transfer and articulation through the shoe.
A key highlight of this class is the introduction of the "scoop" sous-sus. Unlike a standard rise, the scoop action requires a precise engagement of the inner thighs and a quick pull into fifth position en pointe, creating a clean and stable line. The instructor guides you through various combinations, including développé devant and petit battement, ensuring your alignment remains impeccable. We also break down the pas de bourrée, emphasizing crisp transitions and maintaining turnout while moving between positions.
To conclude the session, we focus on recovery and conditioning with a dedicated stretch. You will learn a unique tendu back stretch and specific drills to help you point your toes and ankles more effectively within the box of the shoe. This class is essential for any dancer looking to move away from "clunky" movements and toward the fluid, rapid footwork characteristic of professional pointe work. Join Broche Ballet as we refine your technique, build strength, and help you feel more confident on your toes.
