About This Video
Welcome to the 'Fabulous 15,' a high-intensity, 15-minute nonstop follow-along class designed specifically for dancers looking to refine their technique en pointe. At Broche Ballet, we understand that consistency and precision are the keys to mastering pointework. This session is meticulously structured to maximize your time, focusing on the fundamental mechanics that build strength, stability, and grace.
We begin the session with essential demi-plié and stretching exercises. These movements are crucial for warming up the ankles and ensuring they are prepared for the rigors of dancing en pointe. A specific focus is placed on the articulation of the foot, where you will practice the flex, point, and flex motion while maintaining proper alignment—specifically keeping the pinky toe down to avoid sickling.
As the workout progresses, we transition into more dynamic movements such as the dégagé relevé. Here, the emphasis is on the 'brushing action' from the floor to the point of the shoe. You will learn how to use the floor effectively to propel yourself upward with control. We also dive into single-leg work, where timing and coordination are paramount. By focusing on the force of the standing leg and the timing of the lift, you will develop the strength needed for more complex center work.
The class also includes a challenging plié relevé plié relevé combination, which is an excellent tool for practicing balance and sustained control. We conclude the technical portion with passé and change exercises that challenge your coordination. To ensure your muscles recover properly, the session ends with guided stretching and a moment to shake out the legs. Whether you are at the barre or practicing in the center, this nonstop pointework class is an efficient way to keep your technique sharp and your ankles strong.
