About This Video
Elevate your ballet technique with this focused 15-minute "Fabulous 15" pointe strength session from Broche Ballet. This class is specifically designed to target the intricate muscles of the feet and ankles, which are essential for stable and expressive pointe work. Whether you are currently dancing en pointe or preparing for your first pair of shoes, building a strong foundation is the key to longevity and safety in your practice.
Throughout this high-energy class, we focus on nonstop movement to challenge your endurance and refine your muscle memory. We begin at the barre with intensive demi-pointe work and fondus in first position. The instructor emphasizes maintaining maximum heel height even as you bend, ensuring that your weight is correctly placed over the box of your shoes.
We then transition into dynamic movements including dégagés and tendus, where the focus remains on keeping the knees pulled up and the core fully engaged. Balance is a core component of this routine. By practicing sous-sus and retiré exercises, you will learn to find your center and hold it with confidence.
We also incorporate specific stretches, such as the attitude back stretch and criss-cross calf stretches, to help alleviate tension and maintain the flexibility needed for proper alignment. Proper alignment is not just about aesthetics; it is about safety. We focus on stretching the inside of the ankle and foot to ensure your weight is distributed correctly, preventing common injuries and fatigue.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that consistency is the path to mastery. This follow-along video is perfect for a quick daily supplement to your regular training. Don't forget to shake out your feet between exercises to keep the muscles supple and maintain your focus on proper form.
