About This Video
Welcome to this focused center class at Broche Ballet, designed specifically to enhance your balance and stability. As dancers, the transition from the barre to the center is one of the most challenging steps in our training. This 12-minute session provides a structured environment to practice essential movements without the support of the barre, helping you find your internal plumb line and core strength through mindful movement.
We begin our practice in first position, emphasizing the importance of port de bras and head coordination. By integrating intentional head movements while maintaining a steady relevé, you will challenge your equilibrium and improve your spatial awareness. This fundamental work sets the stage for more complex combinations by ensuring your weight is correctly placed over your supporting leg.
The class progresses through a series of exercises including tendu and fondu. These movements are critical for developing the strength required for controlled weight transfers and stable landings. You will work through detailed foot articulation, focusing on the flex and point of the foot to increase ankle strength and flexibility.
We also incorporate coupé and retiré positions, which are the building blocks for future pirouettes and grand allegro. By focusing on the fondu quality of the movement—a melting bend on one leg—you will build the eccentric strength necessary for fluidity and grace. Whether you are practicing in a studio or a small home space, this follow-along video offers a clear and encouraging way to refine your technique.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that consistent center work is the key to transitioning from a student to a confident performer. Join us in this session to solidify your turnout, sharpen your focus, and achieve a new level of stability in your dancing.
