About This Video
Finding your balance away from the barre is a pivotal milestone for every dancer. In this 15-minute follow-along center class from Broche Ballet, we transition your training to the center of the floor to build the core strength and proprioception necessary for fluid movement. This session is designed specifically for beginner students who are ready to test their stability and refine their alignment in an encouraging environment.
We begin the session with a thorough warm-up of pliés and dégagés, establishing a solid foundation and finding your vertical axis before we move into more complex coordination. As the class progresses, you will be guided through a series of port de bras and arabesques, where the focus shifts to maintaining a quiet upper body and a strong, supporting leg. Proper technique is emphasized throughout, particularly the concept of the fondu—a melting bend that teaches you how to control your weight through the floor.
You will also practice enveloppé and grand jambe movements, which challenge your turnout and flexibility while testing your ability to stay centered without the support of the barre. Our instructor provides detailed corrections on body awareness, reminding you to keep the spine perpendicular to the floor and maintain active turnout on the standing side. We also explore the mechanics of the grand jeté and relevé, ensuring that every rise and jump is executed with precision and control.
The class concludes with a final series of demi-pliés and a traditional bow, leaving you feeling centered, lengthened, and more confident in your independent balance. Whether you are practicing in a home studio or your living room, this session offers the perfect environment to grow your technique and build the confidence needed for center work.
