About This Video
Maintaining strength and stability is essential for any dancer working en pointe. In this "Fabulous 15" follow-along class from Broche Ballet, we focus on the fundamental movements that build a rock-solid foundation for your pointework. This session is designed to be slow and stable, allowing you to prioritize correct alignment and muscle engagement over speed.
The class begins at the barre with foundational exercises in parallel and first position. You will work through a series of parallel pliés and tendus to warm up the intrinsic muscles of the feet. From there, we transition into more complex conditioning, including ankle circles and flexes to increase range of motion and stability.
The instructor guides you through various tendu patterns, encouraging you to maintain a strong connection with the floor before rising to the tips of your shoes. Weight placement is a critical component of this lesson. You will practice shifting weight through demi-pointe and onto full pointe, learning how to safely press over the boxes and find your center.
The class includes specific exercises for relevé and sous-sus, challenging your balance as you test your ability to let go of the barre. We also delve into flexibility, with targeted stretches for the arches, calves, and the tops of the feet, ensuring your muscles remain supple and responsive. Throughout the class, modifications are provided to help you adjust the intensity based on your current level.
Whether you are working on holding an attitude position en pointe or perfecting your roll-down from a sous-sus, this video provides the technical cues needed to excel. By the end of this 15-minute nonstop session, you will have improved your ankle strength, refined your balance, and gained a deeper understanding of the mechanics required for beautiful, safe pointework. Join us at Broche Ballet to elevate your training with this focused conditioning routine.
