About This Video
Welcome to Class #9 of our comprehensive Beginner Pointe Summer 2021 Cohort at Broche Ballet. As we progress into the second half of this 16-class series, we shift our focus toward more dynamic footwork and refining the shape of the foot while en pointe. This session is specifically designed to bridge the gap between foundational stability and the fluid movement required for center work.
In this class, we dive deep into the mechanics of the relevé de cou-de-pied. You will learn how to push up with strong, engaged feet, stretching your toes fully to reach the tip of the shoe with precision and control. We also revisit sur le cou-de-pied to ensure your placement is secure before adding the additional challenge of the relevé.
Mastering this transition is essential for developing the strength needed for more advanced allegro steps later in your training. A significant portion of today’s lesson is dedicated to essential foot shaping exercises. One of the most common challenges for beginner dancers is maintaining the integrity of the pointe shoe's architecture.
We will practice keeping the shank curved during plié en pointe, a vital skill for both safety and maintaining a beautiful aesthetic line. You will learn technical cues for pulling your ankle back away from the box during sous-sus movements. This technique prevents knuckling or leaning too far over the platform, which can lead to injury and poor habits.
We also introduce the piqué ballonné, integrating these movements into combinations to help you build coordination, rhythm, and strength. Setting a clear physical target for your movements is a key theme today; by visualizing your placement before you move, you can execute more difficult steps with greater confidence and accuracy. Broche Ballet is dedicated to providing detailed, technical instruction specifically tailored for adult learners, ensuring you build a solid and healthy foundation for your ballet journey.
