About This Video
Welcome to Class 13 of the Broche Ballet 16-week Beginner Pointe Program. At this stage in your journey, we transition from foundational mechanics to building the sustained strength and stamina required for more complex combinations. This session is designed to push your endurance while maintaining the precision and artistry that defines classical ballet.
A core focus of today's lesson is mastering the relevé and the piqué. We dive deep into the mechanics of rolling up and down with absolute control, particularly when working on a single leg. You will learn the critical importance of bending the knee (plié) as you leave the box during a piqué, ensuring a fluid and safe transition from en pointe.
The instructor provides expert cues on alignment, specifically how to pull the ankle back if you feel yourself tipping too far over the box. We also introduce the piqué ballonné, a dynamic movement that requires coordination and strength. You will practice keeping the working leg precisely behind you during the piqué to maintain balance.
The class incorporates pas de bourrée and bourrées to enhance footwork agility. Throughout the 30-minute session, the emphasis remains on proper posture and alignment, ensuring every movement is executed with the correct form. Consistency is key in pointe work.
By practicing these repetitive movements, you develop the muscular memory needed for more advanced choreography. We conclude the class with a restorative stretch targeting the feet, calves, and shins to promote recovery and flexibility. Whether you are following our structured 16-week program or looking to refine your technique, this class offers the professional guidance you need to succeed.
