About This Video
Welcome to Class #15 of our 16-week Fall 2023 Beginner Pointe Program at Broche Ballet. As we approach the conclusion of this series, we transition from isolated movements to complex, longer combinations designed to challenge your stamina and technical precision. This session focuses heavily on the elegance and intricacy of the bourrée.
You will learn the specific mechanics of the "back-side-front" action, ensuring your shoulders remain down and your hips stay tight together for a seamless, floating appearance. We delve into the nuances of pas de bourrée, focusing on picking up the front foot and landing with grace on demi-pointe. The class begins at the barre with foundational exercises including plié, tendu, and pas de cheval to warm up the feet and establish proper alignment.
From there, we move into more demanding piqué sequences. You will practice meeting in sous-sus and executing piqué passé with a focus on pulling up through the core and maintaining a strong turnout. One of the highlights of this lesson is the integration of tombé into your bourrée sequences, teaching you how to roll up through the foot and step forward with total control.
In addition to technical drills, this class introduces slow adagio exercises. These movements require exceptional balance and foot strength as you pass the foot over and down the back of the leg. Throughout the 33-minute practice, the instructor provides detailed feedback on keeping the toes pointed and pulling them up to engage the correct muscles.
Finally, we conclude with a thorough warm-down, including quad stretches and gentle movements to ensure your muscles recover properly. Whether you are practicing at home or in a studio, this class is a vital step in mastering the fluidity and strength required for intermediate pointe work.
