About This Video
Welcome to the twelfth installment of the Broche Ballet 16-week Beginner Pointe program. In this session, we dive deep into the world of stamina and repetition—the fundamental building blocks for any dancer transitioning into more complex pointe work. As we reach the latter part of our curriculum, the focus shifts from simply understanding the mechanics of rising to the tips of the toes to sustaining that energy throughout a full class.
One of the highlights of this class is a special celebration for our student Cat’s 30th birthday. To mark the occasion, the class participates in a 30-relevé challenge. This exercise isn't just a celebration; it's a rigorous test of physical conditioning and mental fortitude.
By repeating the relevé movement, dancers learn to maintain their form even when fatigue sets in. We emphasize the 'ears over the back heel' alignment and keeping the shoulders down to ensure the weight is distributed correctly through the spine and down into the pointe shoes. Throughout the class, we revisit essential exercises at the barre, including pliés and tendus, adapted for pointe work.
The instructor provides constant feedback on technique, reminding students to drive the hips forward and fully point the feet at the peak of every movement. This focus on precision and control helps prevent injury and builds the specific muscle groups required for stable balance. Beyond the physical work, this class highlights the value of the Broche Ballet community.
You will experience the importance of rest and recovery, knowing when to work through the burn and when to take a moment on flat feet. Whether you are following along in real-time or catching up, Class 12 offers the perfect blend of technical rigor and supportive camaraderie to help you reach your goals en pointe.
