About This Video
At Broche Ballet, we understand that dancing en pointe requires more than just wearing the shoes; it demands exceptional strength, precision, and technical awareness. This 31-minute practice session is meticulously crafted to bridge the gap between basic barre work and the demands of center choreography. We begin by focusing on the most fundamental aspect of pointe work: foot articulation.
By consciously moving through demi-pointe before reaching the full platform, dancers build the necessary intrinsic foot strength to control their ascent and descent. Throughout the class, we utilize classic exercises such as plié and relevé to establish a solid foundation of ankle stability. One of the unique highlights of this session is the focus on box placement and flexibility.
In second position, we explore stretching the heels past the box, a technique designed to improve alignment and ensure you are working over your shoes correctly. As the session progresses, the tempo increases to challenge your coordination. You will practice pas de cheval and fondu combinations that emphasize weight distribution and toe strength.
These movements are essential for developing the dexterity required for complex center work. The curriculum further explores piqué sequences and piqué passé drills, which are vital for single-leg stability. A significant portion of the class is dedicated to sous-sus variations and coup-de-pied transitions.
These specific drills are designed to mimic the rapid mechanics of petite allegro movements, such as entrechat quatre. By mastering these weight transfers at the barre, you gain the confidence to execute them with grace and power in the center. We also incorporate balancé with soutenu to test your equilibrium and core engagement.
Whether you are looking to refine your current technique or are building the strength needed for your first pair of shoes, this comprehensive conditioning session provides the repetition and technical focus necessary for success. Join us at Broche Ballet to elevate your training and achieve new heights in your pointe work journey.
